Management of a telescope project worth over £16m overall
"A short and belated thank you to the Smiths Packaging team for the packing you attended to for the KMOS project, from Royal Observatory - Edinburgh to Chile. There were two fragile and high value items in particular, each of around 4 tons, which required a high degree of specific packing; one which had to be suitable for transport by airfreight, and the second of more concern for ‘on deck’ shipping by sea. I am pleased to confirm that both items (and the other smaller shipments) arrived at destination in first class condition, without the effects of transport having had a bearing on the equipment in any way.
